A One-of-a-Kind Itinerary
An exclusive program created entirely around a once-in-a-generation event.
About This Journey
On August 2, 2027, a once-in-a-lifetime astronomical event will unfold: a total solar eclipse, visible in full along a narrow path crossing Egypt. Luxor lies directly within this path of totality, where for a few breathtaking minutes, day will turn to night over the temples of the Pharaohs. This is more than a solar phenomenon; it is a rare intersection of natural wonder and ancient history, an experience that will not repeat in this location for generations.
This 12-day, 11-night program has been shaped entirely around that singular moment, weaving the eclipse into a complete exploration of Egypt’s greatest landmarks. Begin with three nights at the Fairmont Nile City in Cairo, one of the city’s finest luxury addresses on the banks of the Nile. From there, board the 5-Star Deluxe City and Sea Adonis for a seven-night all-inclusive cruise from Luxor to Aswan, before spending your final night at the Le Méridien Cairo Airport Hotel, situated directly inside Cairo International Airport for the smoothest possible departure.
In Cairo, you will stand before the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx, enjoy an exclusive lunch at the legendary Mena House Hotel with the pyramids in full view, explore the Grand Egyptian Museum and its complete Tutankhamun collection, walk through the historic Coptic Quarter, and take in panoramic views of the city from the Citadel of Saladin. On the Nile, you will sail a rarely navigated stretch of the river to the Hathor Temple at Dendera, attend a private astronomy lecture on the eve of the eclipse, witness the total solar eclipse from the ship’s Sun Deck or from the facade of Luxor Temple itself, explore the temples of Edfu, Kom Ombo, and the island temple of Philae in Aswan, drift along the river on a sunset felucca sail, and journey to Abu Simbel to stand before the rock-cut temples of Ramses II.
Every element has been meticulously curated: from a papyrus certificate commemorating your experience, to a gala dinner on eclipse night, live entertainment onboard, a dedicated on-board physician, hygiene and quality oversight, and 24-hour guest support. This is the most exclusive journey we have ever offered. Limited availability ensures a truly personalized experience, allowing every guest to fully absorb this extraordinary intersection of history and the cosmos.
Highlights
Witness the Total Solar Eclipse from the Nile
On August 2, 2027, the City and Sea Adonis will be strategically docked at a prime position on the Nile, steps from Luxor Temple. Guests can witness totality from the open Sun Deck with unobstructed panoramic views in every direction, or walk to Luxor Temple itself to experience the eclipse against the backdrop of one of Egypt’s most iconic ancient monuments.
Why Luxor in 2027
The path of totality passes directly over Luxor, home to one of the world’s greatest concentrations of ancient monuments. Totality here will last over six minutes, long enough to witness the full solar corona, see stars appear in the daytime sky, and feel the temperature drop around you. No other destination on Earth combines this astronomical rarity with this depth of ancient history.
Three Nights at the Fairmont Nile City, Cairo
Begin your journey with three nights at Cairo’s iconic Fairmont Nile City, a five-star hotel positioned directly on the banks of the Nile with world-class dining, a stunning outdoor pool, and sweeping river views.
Seven-Night All-Inclusive Nile Cruise
Board the 5-Star Deluxe City and Sea Adonis for seven nights sailing from Luxor to Aswan. All meals, soft drinks, local alcoholic beverages, fresh juices, ice cream service, laundry, and complimentary Wi-Fi are included throughout.
Sail to Dendera on the Nile
The City and Sea Adonis actually sails to Dendera, a stretch of the Nile that almost no other cruise operator navigates. Most programs reach Dendera by road. Ours takes you there by river, arriving at the extraordinary Hathor Temple with its famous astronomical ceiling and ancient Dendera Zodiac.
Exclusive Lunch at the Mena House Hotel
Enjoy an included gourmet lunch at the legendary Mena House Hotel in Giza, one of the world’s most celebrated historic hotels, with the Great Pyramids directly in your view across the gardens.
Expert Egyptologist and Astronomy Specialist
A certified, state-licensed Egyptologist accompanies you for the full 12-day program. On the eve of the eclipse, an astronomy specialist delivers an exclusive onboard lecture connecting the celestial science of the Pharaohs to the event you are about to witness.
The Temples of Ancient Egypt
This program spans the full breadth of ancient Egyptian civilization: from the Pyramids of Giza and the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, to the Karnak Temple Complex, the Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, the temples of Edfu and Kom Ombo, the island temple of Philae in Aswan, and the monumental rock temples of Abu Simbel.
Gala Dinner on Eclipse Night
The evening of August 2 is celebrated with a grand gala dinner onboard, accompanied by live music and entertainment, creating an atmosphere worthy of the occasion.
Everything Is Handled
From airport reception and visa assistance to all transfers, admission tickets, gratuities, domestic flights, port fees, and official registrations, every detail is taken care of. An on-board physician and a dedicated hygiene and quality specialist are present throughout the cruise. 24-hour guest support is available for the entire 12 days.
Strictly Limited Places
This program is deliberately capped to preserve exclusivity and ensure a seamless, intimate experience. Early reservation is essential.
Itinerary program
Day 1 – Tuesday, July 27, 2027: Arrival in Cairo
Your adventure starts the moment you touch down. Our dedicated representative meets you at Cairo International Airport with a personalized welcome sign, takes care of visa formalities and luggage, and arranges your private transfer to the Fairmont Nile City. This opening day is kept entirely free of excursions. Take your time to settle in, and soak in your first views of the Nile. The full program begins tomorrow.
Day 2 – Wednesday, July 28, 2027: Pyramids of Giza, Sphinx, Mena House Lunch & Grand Egyptian Museum
Following breakfast, your certified Egyptologist guide takes you to the Pyramids of Giza and the Great Sphinx, two of humanity’s most awe-inspiring creations. At midday, a special included lunch at the Mena House Hotel places the pyramids directly in your view across the manicured gardens. The afternoon continues at the Grand Egyptian Museum, housing over 100,000 artifacts including the complete treasures of Tutankhamun, united in one place for the first time. Return to the hotel and overnight.
Day 3 – Thursday, July 29, 2027: Museum of Egyptian Civilization, Coptic Quarter & Citadel of Saladin
The morning opens at the Museum of Egyptian Civilization, which charts Egypt’s history from prehistoric times through to the modern age. A walking tour through the Coptic Quarter follows, taking in the Hanging Church, the Church of St. Sergius, and the Ben Ezra Synagogue. After an included lunch at a carefully chosen restaurant, you make your way up to the Citadel of Saladin for sweeping views across Cairo and a visit to the magnificent Alabaster Mosque of Muhammad Ali. Return to the hotel for overnight.
Day 4 – Friday, July 30, 2027: Flight to Luxor, Embarkation & Karnak & Luxor Temples by Night
After breakfast, transfer to the airport for your included domestic flight to Luxor. Upon arrival, you are welcomed aboard the City and Sea Adonis and guided to your cabin. The afternoon brings you to the Karnak Temple Complex, the largest religious structure ever constructed, featuring its legendary hypostyle hall, towering obelisks, and sacred lake. As darkness falls, the day concludes with a visit to Luxor Temple, dramatically illuminated at night, its colonnades and colossal statues brought to life under floodlights. Dinner and first overnight onboard.
Day 5 – Saturday, July 31, 2027: Valley of the Kings, Temple of Hatshepsut, Colossi of Memnon & Sail to Dendera
The morning takes you across to the West Bank of Thebes for one of the most memorable days of the program. You explore the Valley of the Kings, including the tomb of Tutankhamun, followed by the breathtaking mortuary temple of Queen Hatshepsut, carved into the cliff face at Deir el-Bahari. The Colossi of Memnon round out the morning. At 2:00 PM the ship embarks on a scenic voyage to Dendera, one of the rarest sailing routes on the Nile, with palm-lined riverbanks and uninterrupted views from the Sun Deck. Dinner and overnight onboard.
Day 6 – Sunday, August 1, 2027: Dendera, Ancient Astronomy & Eclipse Preparation
The day before the eclipse is dedicated to the ancient bond between Egypt and the cosmos. At Dendera, you visit the Temple of Hathor, celebrated for its extraordinary astronomical ceiling reliefs portraying the zodiac and celestial cycles. It serves as a fitting and intentional prelude to what awaits tomorrow. Back onboard, as the ship makes its way back toward Luxor, your Egyptologist and an invited astronomy specialist present an exclusive illustrated lecture covering the celestial knowledge of the Pharaohs, the mechanics of totality, and precisely what to observe in the sky. Dinner and overnight onboard.
Day 7 – Monday, August 2, 2027: Total Solar Eclipse Over Luxor
A day unlike any other.
After breakfast, a final briefing readies you for what lies ahead. The City and Sea Adonis will be strategically docked at a prime position on the Nile, steps from Luxor Temple, placing you at one of the most remarkable vantage points anywhere on Earth to witness the total solar eclipse. From the open Sun Deck of your 5-star ship, or from the facade of Luxor Temple itself for those who prefer to experience it on land, you observe as the sky deepens, the temperature falls, and the moon gradually covers the sun entirely. The corona appears. Stars emerge in the afternoon sky. The ancient temples of Upper Egypt stand around you in stillness. Totality over Luxor on August 2, 2027 ranks among the longest of the 21st century, and there is no finer setting to witness it than here, enveloped by thousands of years of history on every side. This moment is the very reason this entire program was created. A celebratory lunch onboard follows as the ship sets sail toward Edfu. In the evening, a gala dinner with live music and entertainment brings the day to a magnificent close. Overnight onboard.
Day 8 – Tuesday, August 3, 2027: Temple of Horus at Edfu & Double Temple of Kom Ombo
The ship heads south to the Temple of Horus at Edfu, one of the most remarkably preserved temples in all of Egypt, its towering pylons and detailed reliefs as striking now as they were two millennia ago. In the afternoon, the double temple of Kom Ombo awaits, perched directly on the Nile bank and dedicated simultaneously to the falcon god Horus and the crocodile god Sobek. The late afternoon light falling over the river here is extraordinary. Dinner and overnight onboard.
Day 9 – Wednesday, August 4, 2027: Philae Temple, Aswan High Dam & Felucca Sail
The ship reaches Aswan, widely considered the most beautiful city along the Egyptian Nile. A short motorboat ride delivers you to the Philae Temple, devoted to the goddess Isis and set on its own island among smooth granite and shimmering water. The afternoon includes a visit to the Aswan High Dam, one of the great engineering feats of the modern world, before the day closes with a felucca sail on the Nile as the sun sinks over the desert. Dinner and overnight onboard.
Day 10 – Thursday, August 5, 2027: Abu Simbel
An early start for the journey to Abu Simbel, the monumental rock-cut temples of Ramses II hewn directly into the sandstone cliffs above Lake Nasser. Few sites anywhere on Earth blend architectural ambition with astronomical precision the way Abu Simbel does: the inner sanctuary is aligned so that sunlight reaches the very back of the temple on just two specific days each year. For a group that has only days ago witnessed a total solar eclipse, the connection here is immediate and powerful. Your Egyptologist guide brings that resonance vividly to life. Return to Aswan and overnight onboard.
Day 11 – Friday, August 6, 2027: Disembarkation, Flight to Cairo & Final Night at Fairmont Nile City
Following breakfast, your time aboard the City and Sea Adonis draws to a close as guests disembark. A transfer to Aswan Airport connects you with your included domestic flight to Cairo. On arrival, our representative is waiting to accompany you to the 5-star Le Méridien Cairo Airport Hotel for one last night in Egypt. Overnight at the Le Méridien Cairo Airport Hotel.
Day 12 – Saturday, August 7, 2027: Departure
Your closing morning is spent in the refined comfort of the Le Méridien Cairo Airport Hotel, one of Cairo’s most respected five-star properties located directly within Cairo International Airport itself, just steps from your departure terminal. This was planned with purpose, a thoughtful final detail of the Total Solar Eclipse Grand Egypt Tour, designed so your remaining hours in Egypt are filled with ease rather than traffic and transfers. Wake whenever you please and enjoy a complimentary full breakfast at the Le Méridien, already included in your package, before walking to your gate in your own time, whether your flight departs early in the morning or late into the night. No rush, no logistics, just a graceful and seamless goodbye. You depart Egypt with far more than photographs and souvenirs. You carry the memory of witnessing the total solar eclipse above the ancient temples of Luxor, and the deep knowing that one of the world’s greatest civilizations will always stand ready to welcome you once more.

About the Total Solar Eclipse of August 2, 2027
A total solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly between the Earth and the sun, completely obscuring the solar disc along a narrow corridor on the Earth’s surface. Observers outside this path of totality witness only a partial eclipse. Only within this path does the sky darken, the solar corona become visible to the naked eye, and the full emotional and sensory impact of the event reveal itself. The difference between a partial and a total eclipse is profound — it is a completely unique and unforgettable experience.
The August 2, 2027 total solar eclipse is among the longest of the 21st century. Its path of totality crosses North Africa, with Luxor positioned almost perfectly within it. Here, the duration of totality will be exceptionally long, offering an extended and unparalleled window for observation.
Luxor is also home to one of the world’s greatest concentrations of ancient monuments, including temples, tombs, and ruins spanning millennia. The combination of this rare astronomical event, this historic location, and this unique moment in human history makes August 2, 2027 a date no serious traveler should miss.
