The Temples and Excursions of a Nile Cruise

From Karnak to Philae, here is what you will explore between Luxor and Aswan.

Karnak and the wonders of Luxor

Luxor is the showpiece of any cruise. You explore the colossal complex at Karnak, the graceful Luxor Temple, the painted royal tombs in the Valley of the Kings, and the dramatic terraces of Hatshepsut’s temple, all brought to life by your Egyptologist guide.

Riverside temples: Edfu and Kom Ombo

Between the two cities the ship moors beside two superbly preserved temples. The Temple of Horus at Edfu is among the most complete in Egypt, while the riverside temple of Kom Ombo is unusual for honouring two gods side by side.

The serene south: Aswan

Aswan is softer and slower. Highlights include the island Temple of Philae, the engineering of the High Dam, a sail by traditional felucca, and a visit to a vividly painted Nubian village.

Excursions worth adding

A few extras reward the effort: the colossal rock temples of Abu Simbel, a hot air balloon at dawn over Luxor’s West Bank, and an evening sound and light show. Any of these can be added to a programme from the Osiris Odyssey upwards.

All guided, all included

On our full programmes every temple visit is led by a licensed Egyptologist, with entrance fees arranged for you. Plan the rest of your trip with how many nights to sail, how many days in Egypt, and the complete Nile cruise guide.
